Public Servants’ Incomes and Expenses to be Monitored

First Vice Speaker Viktor Medvedchuk has introduced a bill On State (Fiscal) Control over the Declared Incomes and Expenses of Persons Authorized to Discharge Functions of the State.

It envisages a special mechanism of financial control over public servants’ incomes and expenses at all levels and is geared to detect unlawful income and step up the struggle against their concealment by high officials. If enacted, the bill would make it possible to construct a reliable legal framework to combat corruption, which is currently on a scale threatening national security. For the first time in the history of independence a series of coordinated measures is proposed to transfer the effort to stop corruption to the practical sphere, lending it needed consistency. A real obstacle will be built in the way of venal public servants.
