Nov. 3 1943: The 1st Ukrainian Front launches an offensive to liberate Kyiv from the Germans, creating a strategic bridgehead on the right bank of the Dnipro River.

Nov. 4 1959: The diorama “The Storming of Sapun Mount” is launched in Sevastopol.

Nov. 5 1953: The Soviet Union’s first all-welded bridge, designed by Yevhen Paton, opens in Kyiv.
