The revival of classical music in Ukraine, the development of the performing art, a chance for the Kyiv audience to get acquainted with the leading musicians of the new generation – these are the goals of the new Chamber Music Festival “Sonor Continuus” defined by its creator, Ukrainian composer Pavlo Kolpakov. The program of the festival includes chamber music from different eras, from Baroque to the present day, as well as traditionally performed compositions of contemporary Ukrainian composers (compositions by Yevhen Stankovych, Volodymyr Runchak, and Oleh Bezborodko have been already performed).

The concerts feature soloists of the music ensemble “Sonor Continuus,” which consists of the winners of the international and Ukrainian contests: Arsen Yakovenko, Roman Repka, Roman Lopatynsky, Yuliana Rumiantseva, Dmytro Choni, Polina Sasko (piano), Orest Smovzh (violin), Ustym Melnyk, Oleksandr Avramenko (clarinet), Hennadii Kot, Maria Kryvonos (oboe), Taras Osadchy (basson), Zhanna Marchynska, Yevhen Pechnikov (cello), Denys Smirnov (flute), Roman Fotuima (saxophone), Anna Koval, and Solomia Pryimak (soprano). The guests of the festival were a violinist Myroslava Kotorovych and her ensemble “ArteHatta.” The concert in December will also feature the Kyiv Saxophone Quartet.

The soloists of “Sonor Continuus” performed at the international music festival “Premieres of the Season,” in the Center for Education and Culture “Master-Class” (“Classics on Fridays”), in the Actors Center, Chocolate House, the Archive-cum-Museum of Ukrainian Literature and Art (“Art Night at Archive-cum-Museum”). There were also made studio recordings at the Ukrainian radio.

The fourth concert of the new festival will take place on November 16. It will feature compositions by Giulio Caccini, Wolfgang Mozart, Johannes Brahms, Camille Saint-Saens, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Claude Debussy, Anton Webern, as well as the composition of Pavlo Kolpakov Hra v Biser (The Glass Bead Game) for flute solo, performed by Denys Smirnov, and Trio for Two Violins and Piano by a young composer Vsevolod Sirenko, performed by Viktor Andriichenko, Oleksii Riabinin, and Mykyta Shpanko. The Honored Artist of Ukraine violinist Kyrylo Stetsenko will also participate in the concert.

The festival is taking place throughout the year on every third Saturday of each month at the Concert Hall of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine.
