This mountainous raion center in Bukovyna will become the central venue of the 21st International Hutsul Festival, to be held on September 6 through 8. Let us recall that the Bukovynian Hutsuls picked up the baton of hosting the forum during the final round of the 20th Festival, held in Verkhovyna. Its organizers handed to Putyla raion’s representation the challenge banner of the festival and traditional Hutsul accessories: a hat, the invariable headgear of every self-respecting Hutsul, a trembita (a folk trumpet), and a bugle.

Celebrations in Putyla will start with the forum’s guests and participants marching down the town’s center to lay a wreath at the monument to Yurii Fedkovych. The festival fire will be lit up to the sound of trembitas at the Carpathians Central Stadium. The grand opening will be followed by artistic groups’ performances as well as master classes and exhibition fair involving folk artists and craftspeople. The forum’s events will include an international scientific conference entitled “Implementation of the State Program of Enhanced Economic Development for 2013 and 2014 under Peculiar Mountain Landscape and Climate Conditions of Hutsul Land: Current Status, Problems, and Solutions.” The organizers promise that the artistic groups participating in the festival will hold concerts in the raion’s villages, too. The forum will end with an award ceremony and a gala concert.
