A show of short films, “February,” was held in on the premises of the Oblast Music School. On the first day, audiences could see ten 7-to-20-minute-long pictures made by young filmmakers. The films were of very diverse themes – from acute social problems in Vania directed by Oksana Artemenko to ordinary everyday life in If by Taras Kotsiuba. There was also a place for fantasy and philosophy – The Sorter by Oleksandr Skrabak about the consequences of our actions. Billboards advertised the organizers’ message: “Each will see his own.” For these shorts comprise everyday-life situations, childhood memories, love, betrayal, and humor. All the directors are students at Kyiv’s Karpenko-Kary National University of Theater, Cinema, and Television. Two of them were born in Sievierodonetsk. They were in fact initiators of this unusual event, hitting upon the idea of a movie show right in a tram. “A considerate attitude to the residents of our native town made us wish to divert them from today’s problems and offer them inspiration, for art makes a person happy, which our town so badly needs in this very period,” Hanna Kravchenko and Oleksandr Radomsky say. “As people are overloaded with negative information about what is going on in this country, we decided to unburden them emotionally to some extent. We are grateful to our student friends for coming here and helping us to organize all this!” As part of this forum, audiences could also see the much-talked-about historical drama The Guide. The two-day film show was free of charge, but during the intervals each spectator could donate money in support of antiterrorism operation soldiers.
