Nadia Is a Strong Name [Nadia means Hope in Ukrainian. – Ed.], an autobiographical book by Ukrainian pilot and MP Nadia Savchenko who is held captive by the Russians, was presented at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on September 16. The Ukrainian pilot’s sister Vira Savchenko said that the book was written by Nadia during a hunger strike, and there were fears even that the author would die before finishing it. “This book contains the sad truth,” Vira said and expressed the hope that it would find readers abroad as well. All money raised from the book’s sale on September 16 will be used to support other Ukrainians who are now illegally held in Russian prisons, according to Nadia Savchenko’s sister. Let us recall that this book by Savchenko was presented at the Publishers’ Forum in Lviv on September 10. Nadia Is a Strong Name tells the life story of Savchenko, including her participation in the peacekeeping operation in Iraq and the anti-terrorist operation in Ukraine.
