Pysankas in Venice

The 54th Biennale hosted a record number of 89 country-participants. The first to see the works of the contemporary masters were the honored guests, art critics and mass media representatives. The general public will be able to see Biennale 2011 from June 4 until November 27. The Ukrainian pavilion was solemnly opened on June 1.

This year Oksana Mas, an artist from Odesa, is representing Ukraine with the “Post vs. Proto-Renaissance” project, about which The Day has written on several occasions. The project is a monumental mosaic panel, a recreation of the Ghent altar created by Hubert and Jan van Eyck in the 15th century. And it is made up of thousands of painted wooden eggs!
