The ceremony of the “Lion City’s” acceptance to the international association took place during the opening of the 2nd Tourist conference “Win with the Lion!” The local tourist department invited leading experts from the tourist sector from Great Britain, the Netherlands, Germany and Poland. They will present their vision of tourism development in Lviv and share successful experiences of holding various tourist events on the example of other European cities.

During the solemn opening of the international conference Olivier Ponti, the representative of the Amsterdam Tourism & Convention Board, announced Lviv’s membership in the European Cities Marketing, handed over the diploma, and noted that the “Lion City” meets all requirements for joining the International Tourist Association. European Cities Marketing is a network of tourist offices, which includes 132 cities in 32 European countries. Its main task is increasing the flow of the tourists through efficient marketing. Lviv is the first Ukrai-nian member of the European Cities Marketing. “By gathering the representatives of the international tourism field together in Lviv we create a powerful professional environment, share our experiences, and promote the establishing and strengthening of collaboration in the tourism field. We also promote the development of a powerful tourist industry in our region,” Hennadii Dmytrenko, chief deputy of Lviv regional state administration, believes. In his opinion, the holding of such events is especially timely before the Euro-2012 finals, which Lviv will host.

The city charms tourists from all over the world. “Lviv is doomed to success and I offer everyone to share it,” Andrii Sadovy, the city mayor, noted. He emphasized that the Lviv tourism sphere offers great prospects for all those ready to work with the Lvivites.
