Arturas Slapsys has recently visited Lutsk to present here a collection of his pictures at the exhibit “Portraits of monarchs and well-known figures of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.” The exhibit is operating in the city’s Museum of Art. Ancient Luchesk in its time was a summer residence of Grand Lithuanian dukes (the city Trakai was their winter residence). So, Volyn and Lithuania are united by common history. The residents of Lithuania are well aware of the current situation in Ukraine and the unannounced war that is going on in its east. Every person who cares shares with Ukraine everything s/he can.

Slapsys decided to help Serhii Fedotov, a resident of Lutsk who was wounded during the military actions. He gave five of his pictures for a charity action, and the raised money will be given to the soldier. Arturas comes from Kaunas, he has lived for a long time in the US, his pictures are stored in private collections in the US, Ukraine, Great Britain, and Lithuania. He gave for the auction his pictures Gladiator, Jeanne d’Arc, Inquisitor, Guardian, Pharaoh Ramesses.

Serhii is 21. He was called up in April this year. On August 29 while he was fulfilling his service duties near Novokaterynivka, Donetsk oblast, he received wounds of feet caused by mine explosive, as well as a blind shrapnel gunshot wound in his chest. A complicated surgery is needed to save his leg, and a long-time rehabilitation after that. Fortunately, Ukrainian doctors, the Ukrainian Medical Center of Sports Medicine, can help him recover. But 30,000 hryvnias are needed for treatment. It will be hard for the family of the serviceman to find such a big sum.
