The legendary French singer Patricia Kaas will sing in the Kyiv Palace “Ukraina” on December 9. Her two-hour concert set list contains 24 compositions from the repertoire of legendary Edith Piaf including the hits “La Vie En Rose,” “Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien,” “Padam Padam.” Combining the music and dances Kaas will recreate in Kyiv the atmosphere of Paris streets of the 1930s-1950s, the time and the place where Piaf lived, created her songs, and sang them. Kaas’s concert is a grandiose show with video installations, high-quality lightning, and elements of drama. The series of concerts is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the day of Piaf’s death. In 2012, a year before this sorrowful date Kaas issued her new album “Kaas chante Piaf.”

“I think it is high time to tell the next generations about Edith Piaf. The people of my age, born in mid-sixties, grew with her songs without understanding well what kind of person she was in reality. Piaf is a myth, she is an idol! I am trying to be a mediator of her songs to the modern world,” Patricia KAAS says. “These songs are incredibly strong themselves, however, the world is changing and I want to present their modern versions. The songs were arranged by Abel Korzeniowski, known for his Hollywood soundtracks and I think the audience will share theses emotions. Our show is a message from the past to the present; the music is recorded by a classic orchestra but arranged the way that was just impossible at Piaf’s era, the art-director Tanguy Dairaine is responsible for the visual imagery that corresponds to our time.”

In the concert the singer dedicated to Edith Piaf there will be a man who has left an imprint in Patricia Kaas’ life, the prominent French actor Alain Delon. In the video Milord the famed womanizer will dialog with Patricia Kaas looking at her from the screen. It is symbolic that at different times Delon had romantic relationships with both Edith Piaf and Patricia Kaas. This is a kind of drawn thread between the two singers and this is used to the best effect of the show. However, Patricia still assures that she rejected Delon’s persistent advances because of being insecure. Though, she always secretly hoped that the handsome actor would have enough courage to kiss her. By the way, Alain Delon once predicted that the price of Kaas’ success would be her solitude. It happened so.

According to Kaas, her concert in Kyiv will be dedicated not only to Edith Piaf, but to her beloved man who died and other people who were in her heart. “Piaf’s even most dramatic songs are filled with positive emotions, as if she always knew that hard times would pass and things would change for better. There will be the light at the end of the tunnel.”
