A particular aspect of the project is the “Ukraine’s Treasures” exhibition, initiated by the Euro-Asian Association for Project Management. The organizers define the project’s purpose as building a travelling exhibition that represents Ukraine through contemporary artworks, historical artifacts, and documentaries about famous artists. Host countries will supplement this peculiar cultural embassy of Ukraine with its own pieces of art, while it travels across the world. “Automaidan-Kyiv” exhibition, which held high-profile events in nine European countries in the past year’s June and July, can be regarded as a prototype of this larger project.

Several works by Ukrainian artists were presented at the opening ceremony, including the ones by Volodymyr Harbuz, Larysa Pukhanova, and Iryna Novikova. The pupils of Mykola Lysenko Specialized secondary boarding school, as well as students and alumni of the National Music Academy of Ukraine greeted the guests with themes by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and other classical European composers. A fascinating performance by little harpist made a particular impression among the viewers.

“Cultural Heritage of Europe” is an ambitious large-scale initiative in order to bring Ukraine and Europe closer. Cultural embassy is an established practice, which has been used many times to improve the country’s image and strengthen its foreign cultural ties. These difficult times for our country call for a determined promotion of Ukraine as an actual participant of European cultural space, as well as a source of talented people who have much to impress the world with and much to be proud of. This instrument of mild influence is a valuable tool for any present-day democracy – the presence in cultural space, creative collaborations, and development of mutual context are essential in building favorable conditions for successful international dialog.

“Ukraine’s Treasures” will be on display through April 29.
