The 1,000-year old oak of Maksym Zalizniak – a landscape monument located in the National Historical and Cultural Reserve “Chyhyryn” grows in the village of Buda, Chyhyryn raion. The tree needs constant care and measures for its recovery. For this purpose the workers of the reserve treat it against diseases and pests, remove dry branches, apply nutrients, and prune the crown three times a year. Unfortunately, there is no state funding for these needs. Everything that has been done so far was made possible thanks to the support of the philanthropists.
This year, a part of the necessary procedures have been done, but there are still things that need to be done urgently: replacement of special ropes, that secure the major branches to the trunk (the “Cobra” system), removal of dry branches from the crown, preparing the tree for the winter by treating it against pests and diseases. The named measures cost approximately 12,000 hryvnias. We ask people, who care about the fate of the historical tree, to respond to they cry for help in this noble cause. Please transfer the funds to the Charitable Foundation for Social Development of the National Historical and Cultural Reserve “Chyhyryn” to the Account No. 26000060190638 PAT CB “Privatbank” Chyhyryn MFO 354347 OKPO 22809707 marked “donations to charity.” Your can receive detailed information by calling (04730) 95-3-31, 095 069 07 74, 096 439 77 42.
